H&M Trend Necklace.

Inspired by a necklace one of my close friends of Suriel wore in a blogpost, I tried to create a DIY version. The original necklace is from the H&M Trend collection. And the DIY version is... Easy peasy!

The original

What you'll need
- shrinkle paper (A4 - transparent)
- a ribbon

extra: scissors, a cutter

Tutorial


Step by step
1) Cut out the shapes you like
  TIP: they will shrink in the oven - so make sure they are big enough!
2) Cut out a little hole in the middle
  TIP: make a square, this is the easiest form to cut out with your cutter
3) Put them in the oven - this will go very quickly. First they will curl up, afterwards they will flatten themself. This all in 1 minute or less.
4) Place a heavy book on them when you take your hot plastic out of the oven
5) Start to thread the shapes on to the ribbon

There you go!

Lace shorts.

The perfect way to pimp your shorts? Add some lace!
For one, it's cute. Second, it makes your legs look slimmer! (I kid you not.)

What you'll need
- a pair of shorts (found mine at H&M)
- a strip of lace (found mine at Veritas)

Extra: pair of scissors, a lighter, needle and thread

Tutorial

Step by step
1) Measure the fabric, so you know how much lace you'll need
2) Pin the lace onto the fabric
3) Start sewing (off course you can use a sewing machine)
4) Cut the lace when you are finished with sewing
   TIP: Do this when you're finished in order to prevent you'll end up with too little lace
5) Burn the edges of the lace before sewing them together in order to prevent them from unraveling

Pimped H&M Bag.

Hello sunshine!
Spring is (hopefully) around the corner, and no better the way to complete your sunkissed outfit by adding a touch of colour to your accessories?
This bag original is from H&M.

A quick and fun DIY! 

What you'll need?

- a handbag

- some fake leather

extra: scissors, superglue

Tutorial

Step by step
1) Measure the piece you want to cover in leather
2) Add 2 extra centimeters to each side and cut it
3) Glue to left and right side to the piece you want to cover
4) Add little dots of glue to the remaining pieces and flip them around.

Enjoy!

Pimped shoes.

In anticipation of Spring... Lately, every shoe store you visit you see flat shoes with a colourful or golden tip popping up! So I tried it my way.

What you'll need

- some (cheap) flat shoes (the one with the golden tip are from Action - the one with the neon tip are from H&M)

- masking tape

- spray

Tutorial

Step by step

1) Remove bows or any other extra's from your shoes

2) Deside wich part you want to give a "spray" and line with tape

3) Protect the rest of the shoe

4) SPRAYYYYY !

     TIP: Do this outside!

As you can see the velvet ones (H&M) were a little bit harder to spray. I even needed to use a white basecoat. So another tip: use shoes with a smooth surface.

Marni x H&M inspired necklace II.

A year ago Marni x H&M worked together and made a beautiful collection. Inspired by one of those pieces - worn here by the lovely Liene of the Belgian blog Suriel - I tried to create my own and fun DIY version!


What you'll need
- Fimo (or another kind of polymer clay)
- little balls of styrofoam (I used 8 of 3,5 cm and 2 of 4 cm)
- leather cord
- the template

extra: a pin, an oven, a cutter, tinfoil

The template

Tutorial

Step by step
1) Cover the balls in tin foil and make "a tail"
2) Roll out the clay and cut out the template
3) Make two little holes in the clay
4) Place the clay around the ball
5) Bake!
6) When the clay is baked you will see the balls shrunk and you can easily remove them 
7) Weave the cord through the little holes you made earlier

There you go!

Embellished Sunglasses.

During Paris Fashion Week a specific trend made its way through the lens of street style photographers: Embellished Sunglasses. And one of the responsible designers for it is apparently is Moo Piyasombatkul : One of here designs worn here by Tiany Kiriloff.
So I gave it a try!

What you'll need
- Polymer clay (I used "Fimo" in the colour mint)
- Sunglasses (bought mine at H&M)

Tutorial

Step by Step
1) Make sure you work on a clean surface
2) Make two little rols out of the clay
3) Flat them out
4) Start adding curls, little balls,...
   TIP: You can use a pen you use to crochet or a thoothpick to smooth the paste while you add two pieces together
5) Bake
6) Glue the two pieces to your sunglasses

Studded Army Shirt.

 

Studs are hot this spring. So I decided to make a very easy �nd cheap DIY studded T-Shirt. Enjoy!

What you'll need
- A tank top (found my at H&M) 
- Studs: squares and triangles (You can find them at H&M (Divided Collection) or at Veritas) 

Extra: pliers

Tutorial

Step by step
1) Place your studs
2) Attach them by bending the extensions

Bordeau Necklace.

A new statement necklace this time inspired by the Marni x H&M Collection.

What you'll need
- polymer clay (I used "Fimo" in the colours tangerine and bordeau)
- needle and thread
- a leather cord 

Tutorial

 Template

Step by step
1) Make "pancakes" out of the clay: 3 mm thickness
2) Put the pancakes in the freezer for 15 minutes 
3) Cut out the template
4) Use the template to cut the forms out of the clay
5) Make little holes in the shapes
6) Bake them
    TIP: After baking the shapes directly put them under some heavy books till they cool down. It will prevent the shapes from curling up.
6) Now the hard work starts. Start sewing the pieces together. Secure them well, you can add little spots of spray when necessary
7) Often look in the mirror when you are sewing all the little pieces together. It helps to keep an eye on the whole.
